Hey everyone. I found a person selling Southdown Play Sand (Aragonite) on Ebay. This is good for me since I live in California and basically can't get the good stuff at my local Home Depot. He's selling them for about $12 + s/h. Comes out to about $25/bag with shipping for a 50# bag. He has over 700 bags (16 pallets). He's located in Idaho.

I purchased 50# from them. I's still waiting for it to arrive but they seem like a pretty good business so far. It was a good price for us that cannot find it locally. It cost me a total of $37.00, shipping was a little more then I thought.

Wow, I didn't think the shipping would be that bad. Now I'm wondering if it's worth ordering or if I should just get a bag of 40# Caribsea at my lfs for about the same price?

hmmm.. considering that on average a bag of southdown is about $4, he is going for a hefty profit.
For the price and shipping, I can go to the LFS and buy sand from them. The reason why everyone wants southdown is for the $4 price tag for 50 pounds.

Yeah it cost me more that I wanted, but it was still cheaper then the LFS. They wanted $25 for a 15Lb bag of Caribsea. The Southdown sand that I got from that guy on EBay is very nice and in my opinion with the cost.
