If you lived on a coast, there are tons of small, bait fish that can be collected for foods, in addition to a wide variety of shrimps and crabs. Otherwise, live food fish are not realistic.

I live about 6 1/2 hours from the Gulf of Mexico and only go there on vacation and fishing trips, so I couldn't use that as a primary source. Just a thought. I like to watch "the hunt" when you feed predators.

You can get them from Inland Aquatics, among other places. The tang will probably ignore them, but smaller fish and inverts will enjoy them.
