Why did my dojo die??

I did about a 30% water change yesterday and my parameters are as follows: nitrate- 5, nitrite- 0, ammonia- 0.

He was really active and eating well. I got him pretty young and he had doubled+ in size in a few weeks. What could have happened?? All my other fish seem fine, except my black moor is showing signs of ick. Could this have killed him? I really liked this fish... I honestly have never been so sad to see a dead fish. Should I even bother getting another one??

Just out of curiousity, is this the only dojo that you had?

If your black moor is showing ich, I would venture a guess this is probably what got your loach. Loaches are very susceptible to ich. Sometimes, it can kill a fish without you ever having a visible symptom because it attacks the gills and doesn't appear on the fins like we usually think of it doing.

Sorry for your loss.
In all honesty, it could have been a lot of things. Did you look closely at the body? Any spots, or a milky film, or growths? If another fish has ich, he may have had it too. Loaches have no scales, so they may be more susceptible to skin issues like ich.
I would be tempted to get another one, but I think dojos are really cute. However, I would suggest more than one, maybe 3 if possible. Loaches are social critters, and would prefer some company.

What are your other params? Temp? pH?
What tankmates other than the moor?

Mayhaps the water change added excess chlorine into the system.

I do use a dechlorinator and he was the only dojo. Other tankmates are 4 goldfish in total and a temporary pleco(some type other than common, I think) in a 55 gal. I know that the bio-load may be a little high, but I do larger water changes and check the params regularly. The water is room temp, about 74 degrees. He did not have any sliminess or white on him. His body looked normal. I thought he was healthy until I found him dead. =(

I don't know... he was quite rambunctious and fast. His body was curled backwards slightly, nose toward tail and his belly area was reddened, like under the skin. I thought that it may have been just something that happens after death but could it possibly have been signs of an injury??
