I bought a flexi brush from drsfostersmith.com. Here it is: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3899&Ne=40000&R=7254&N=2004+113159

Works good for me but it's still hard to clean out longer hoses.

As odd as this sounds.

I clean my Eheim hose by putting a crumpled up wet napkin inside the hose and either blow it through or use the faucet to push it through.

Works great.

they sell filter cleaning brushes at petsmart, auto-parts stores (for hoses) home depot, and probably even walmart. They work great when they're new. They get worn out pretty quickly though. It's pretty much just a super long baby bottle brush.

Like everything else in the world- the right tools make it easy.
Hose brushes.

I use a straightened wire coat hanger with a little bit of rag attached to the end. Works a charm!

What the...? Who's asking about cleaning hoses??? Thought for sure you'd be the first one responding to the question but then I see YOU asked the question:eek: ! Well, I THOUGHT you had sparkling clean hoses! Must of fell out of practice.
Obviously there are many ways to polish your hose...hoses.:o I use an old bottle brush and curtain rod (metal type). Insert the wire end of the brush in the rod and crimp it with pliers. If you really want an experience, use the brush with a sponge tip. It's AMAZING!!!;)

Ah! Curtain rod!

I just bought 2 tanks with 4 cannister filters, and the lady who had them used weedwacker line to run through and pull the hose brush back out (run through, through the end of brush, double back about a foot then pull through), but I can't get the line to get all the way in in the first place in one particular hose.... but a curtain rod would do, Thanks!

What about a rifle cleaning kit? Never used one myself, but have seen them in the store. The only problem I see is the hose being too small.

Just something to think about.

I use an electrician's fish tape. It cost about $5.00 for a small one. It is easly run through even a long hose and has a hook on the end to attach a brush or a piece of cotton. Maybe thats why its called a fish tape.

Ditto the coat hanger and tissue, some hoses require more tissue to clean:rolleyes:
