Hes in a 150gallon tank atm, will eventually(when he gets a bit bigger) be moved into a pond i am planing on building in my basement.

anyway, i just moved from my old house, about a 30 min drive, i moved the tank and was able to save about 50% of the water, kept all the gravel wet, and biowheels wet. set the tank back up and everthing has been going smooth, except the id shark isnt eating.

during the move, it seems his one eye got hit, there seems to be a small wound on it, and the eye clouded a bit. its only one of his eyes not both. i took all the precautions during the move that i could but sadly not enough.

i have 2 in the tank, the other is a little smaller then a ft.
the smaller one is readily eating but the other isnt eating at all from what i can tell. iv tried flakes, tubafex(sp) worms freeze dried, algea chips, frozen foods(bloodworms, etc), and live worms. he hasnt touched any of it. its been 4 days and same thing

hes in the tank with a pleco, the other id shark, 20 corys, and about 20 tail-light tetras, the tank has SOME live plants(the ones the pleco decides can stay :duh:

if anyone has anyideas that will be of any help i would love to hear them, thanks in advanced

its probably a stress thing, moving fish, especially big ones like that, can be very stressful to them...because all the fish that i have seen that were one eyed could eat fine and were basically just as capable as they were with two.

give him awhile, fish can go weeks without eating.

agrre with slipknottin. I have a bud that had 6 id's. They can go 2 weeks without food. How are the water parameters? Did the ph take a huge swing? Give it time.

One more question. How long were the bio filters off? I just posted a new forum on this. I've been told beneficial bacteria will die off quick with no oxygen. Sounds like he just took a good hit and it's gonna take a bit of time for him to come back around. Good luck! ;)

the bio wheels where in about 2 inchs of water and i spun the a little as often as i could on the way, maybe 10 times in 30 min.

iv tested amonia level once a day for last week and its been below 1ppm.

so i think the bacteria survived

Sounds like you stayed on top of everything. He probably took a hit and gonna take time to come back around. I hope the best for him. They are cool fish. :D

I got him when i was quite the newb. Hes a very cool fish when i first got him he was very inactive so i got another one. i slap myself for that.

He was in a 10gallon, then a 55, and now 150, i dont wana give him back to the store or anything like that, he would probably just be sold to someone with a smaller tank.

2 in a 150 is fine. Don't get rid of him. My friend had 6 in a 125. If it was me, try to make him better, and if you don't make it happen at least you know you did your best. If he's 12 inches then he's toward the end of his life expectancy anyways. Again, Good Luck!!

i dont know about that, iv seen id sharks in the range of 3ft, now i know he wont get that large, but hes less then 2 years old.

sure he still has a good amount of time left in him.

If he's that young then he has a good time chance of coming out of it, but you never know. 12 inches at 2 yrs., what are you feedin him? That's huge. The biggest one I've seen is 15 inches. I figured your id was about 5-7 years old when you said he was 12 inches. lol.
