filter motor smoking

I came home today on my lunch break to find my filters not working. i unplugged them and took them apart. I found that the motor was smoking. what is wrong? what do i do to fix it?

Well, what kind of filter is it? If the motor is indeed 'smoking', though, it might be a good idea to just go ahead and buy a new filter.

sounds like the impeller jammed somehow. i had that happen to one of mine and it got pretty hot, but not enuf to make steam or smoke. more than likely you would be best off to buy a new one.
