Nope. A fluidized bed filter percolates water constantly through sand, keeping nitrifying bacteria supplied with aerated water. It provides a large surface area for converting NH3 to NO3, but stops there. A DSB is deep enough to be anaerobic in the lower regions, so that NO3 will be converted to N2 and bubble out as gas.
The best use of a FB filter is where there is high bioload, such as holding tanks or when curing live rock. In a properly stocked reef or FO tank, there should be no need.
