Just moved, and had to place my 150G tank in the basement :( Just didn't fit in the family room. Problem I don't have a sink in the basement!! For water changes with my Python. What can I do? Does a Python work running it from the first floor down? Can it suck it back up a floor?
HELP before I put a for sale sign on it

Thanks!

Would it really be that hard to put a cheap water faucet in your basement?

Doesn't the basement have a drain?? You can just use the gravel sucker on one end of the hose and stick the other end into the drain... let the gravity siphon do the work!!

I've been operating that way for years and it works great... you actually get more suction than using the Python faucet attachment thingy. Around here, water is scarce so the waterbed fill/drain things are not used too much as they waste a lot of water when doing a water change. I just run the hose into a shower or tub or floor drain when doing water changes.

Its really not that hard to install a small sink or toilet in your basement, I've been in many basements which have water faucets, sinks and even a "backup" toilet which were not finished out.

Pick up a cheap sink or toilet and install it. You might need to do some small home renovations in your basement but I bet you can get away with spending no more then $100 if you put your mind to it. Get a cheap second hand sink and tap into a drain...... I'm sure theres one, you can pay a plummer to install one but that is more $.

My tank is in my basement, we have a small 'backup; toilet and a faucet for cold water which comes off the cold water which feeds our hot water tank. Ideal for water changes.

I just do it old school...

a couple of 5 gallon cat litter buckets and a gravity drain cleaner...

I still refil my 55 1 gallon at a time ;) Atleast I know for sure, all the water going into my tank is de-chlorinated...

Yuck, I have the same problem as well - 5 out of 6 tanks are at the basement with no water fixtures. I do have a drainage, so I should be able to use the regular gravel vac, but for filling water, I'm not sure what is the best way...

I am thinking of buying a large plastic garbage container and fill it up once every few weeks or so using a long hose and fill tanks from that container.... In my case, my tanks in the basement is 50ft away from the closest tap on the first floor... Grrr...
