My tank had completed cycled, and I will get fishes in this weekend. I will get 5-6 neon tetras, 5 guppies for breeding, 1 betta which I already had, and some dwarf gouramis. Should I get some corycat for the bottom too?

1. Which fishes should I be first to introduce to my tank?
2. Will this be overstock?
3. I will breed the guppies for sure, and how many males and females do I need for sure?
4. How many dwarf gouramis can I keep in the 10g tank?
5. Any other comments and suggestions for my tank?

Thank you for asking, I know my English isn’t that brilliant, thank you.

I think you are pushing the limit with the guppies, tetras and betta. In addition, I have had poor experience matching dwarf gouramis and bettas, no real fighting, but the betta would flare up a lot.

a little much especially with those breeding machines guppies

There is a good chance that the betta will kill the male guppies, and a good chance that the dwarves will nip the bettas fins. There's not enough room in the tank for all this to go on, so I would not get the gouramis. The only way you're going to avoid problems with the male guppies is if you can get cobras, swordtails (the strain, not the fish), or feeder males.

Yeah, I would definatly not get the gouramis. I have 2 in my 20 gallon and they got much bigger than I expected.

I thought gouramis are peaceful fishes, how come they would nip the betta's fins?

Are 5 guppies, 2 corycats good for a 10g?

Can someone give me a combation of fishes which I get stock into a 10g, but guppies must be in it...

Thank You

Since you love guppies so much I would stick with just those guys as themain school of fish. And if you like the cory catfish then you can easily have 3 or 4 of them in the bottom (get the smaller ones of course). I personally find that too many types of fish in a 10 gallon look messy, keeping a couple of different fish that live in different zones looks nice. Plus fewer is easier to keep.

I think gouramis get a little territorial. Betas and gouramis don't get a long much at all.

If you still want a beta, get tetras to accompany him. Together they will be very colorful, active and peaceful.
