Is my Java Moss Dead?

im my 5 gallon tank the java moss is turning brown and weaping and not staying attached to anything now.. is it dead and should i take it out?

how can i clean it?? and i only have a betta in there so how would it be dirty

well when the gravel would be stirred up it'll settle on the java moss. and the betta might poop on it every now and then. i can only seem to keep my java moss clean in my shrimp tank. not exactly sure on a way to clean it.

Some of it looks dead. The green stuff is alive though.

Poke it with a stick and see if it bleeds. If it bleeds it's still alive.

should i take it out and put it in a jar by itself with more light to see if its my lighting? i dont think it is but idk, its 23 watts i think
