Hi,

I got my first coral today. After doing lots of research and looking at the LFS i got a zooanthid colony. Something I didnt quite expect though and have been looking for an answer for is attaching it. It came on a square block that it was aquacultured on. Do I remove it from this and then glue it (with superglue?) to the location I want it? If so how do I remove it? Thanks for the help and good info to get me going the last few months!

We have picked up several colonies of "sea mat" corals which were also attached to rock. We simply placed the rock where we wanted it. Sometimes it may require bracing with other rocks, but I don't believe you remove the corals from their rock.

Using a rubberband or netting to hold the colony in place works great. It takes a while, like several weeks, for them to stick properly, but they eventually will. I think the picture in my tank specs actually has zoanthids strapped down with a rubberband in the lower left.

Funny how different corals can be. Xenia takes less than a day to stick.

Thanks for the replys. i found a nice place for the rock with the colony on it in my tank. It fits in nicely and is a great addition!
