I picked up a 50lb bag of Crushed Marble playsand. It is labled 99% Silica free, non-toxic, cleaned and heated.

Is it ok that its not Argonite?

Thanks :)

Playsand is fine to use, the only advantage of Arogonite is it helps buffer the PH of the water, but thats easy to correct.

It depends on the grain, which is a very important factor in deep sand beds. many 'play sands' I've seen in my area have grains too large for a DSB. If it's about the consistency of sugar, it'll probably work. If it's larger than that, I'd keep looking.

Thanks for the info thats a good article. The sand is about the consistency of sugar. I went ahead and started setting up the tank. :D
