What would be the best way to go from catching offshore reef fish and stuff to defunk them for aquarium use.

I have a 65 hex reef setup now with all store bought stuff.

I did this a few years ago with an angel and it wiped out my fish. I lost 2 Lions and some others. I know you are suppose to quarintine them but do you add any chemicals to help kill off bacteria ?????? Also the same with invertabrates and live rocks??????
I have my own boat and dive in the summer's in Fla but have been intimidated to add anything.

Thank you

Quarantine for 4-6 weeks, minimum. If you're adding to a FO, treat with copper.

Check with M. Dandaneau in ReefCentral--he collects most of his fish from Florida waters, and I've never heard him mention an introduction bringing any disease along.

Thanks for the reply, Sorry for my ignorance but what is FO ? I am new here. I have a 20L that I was going to use as a quarintine tank.
