i just aquired a pair of 1" cacatuoides. Im wondering if i should bother lowering the PH using peat. In general, how often should the peat be replaced to keep the ph constant.

I wouldn't even bother...

Cacs are beginner apistos which means they are very adaptable. Only really really touchy species or those wild caught would 'need' and acidic ph.

Hey! Cool CB, you got the cockatoos. When did you get them and where?

IME they will appreciate lower pH values, however, peat treated water proved very tricky for me - they do not like ellivated TDS levels so I would almost recommend using RO water instead, or atleast limiting the amount of peat used.

okay. can anyone tell me at what size do Cacats sexually mature. my male is chasing my female around and it seems to be stressing her out. sometimes, she swims tilted.

i added a large peice of driftwood to make the water more acceptable.

Male cacs usually have harems... If you can, I would get another female or two.

I would also put a few flower pots in there for her to hide in.
