Hey guys, I just bought a USED 60g tank and stand and am slowly setting it up. Please give me any suggestions that come to mind. THX!

60g long glass aquarium
undergravel filter
hagen aquaclear 70 power filter
hydor turbo air pump 4 w/ moonlight
300w titanium heater (75"F)
hood + single 48" bulb
Rocks + Plants (havnt picked which ones, depends on what fish i get)

I havnt added any fish yet but Im planning on adding:

Top: 15 Harlequin Rasboras
Middle: 10 Cardinal Tetras, 10 Rummy Nose Tetras
Bottom:2 or 3 baby Angelfish (which ones better?), 2 baby Rams, 1 Pleco
1 baby Black Ghost Knife fish (is he a top, middle, or bottom dweller?)

and am debating on adding:
2/3? Boesemani Rainbow
2 Killifish
1 Leaf Fish

The leaf fish will eat the other fishes.

The black ghost knife is a bottom dweller. When it gets big enough it will eat the tetras and harlies.

I would add another filter....and stick to low light plants with that standard light...

So I was thinking of making some changes to the proposed fish list:

Its still an 60g aquarium with a UGF and a Hagen Aquaclear 70 Powerfilter.
And my question is, How many of the following fish would be a good combination for the tank?

first what # of Cardinal Tetras
then what # of Discus and Angelfish added simultaneously to avoid conflict
lastly what # of Black Ghost Knifefish

and any other fish that you recommend good for this setup? a scavenger? a loach?
Discus and Angelfish could I keep together (keeping in mind that I plan on adding some cardinal tetras before hand, and a Black Ghost Knife after

1) The number of cardinals will depend on your other fishes.
2) I would only have one pair of either the Angels or Discus and not mix them.
3) I am not a black-ghost fan (hides to much and not interesting fish).
4) Corys or smaller loaches would be fine.

get rid of the ugf, it will be a problem later on. get another hob or canister... upgrade the lights soon to at least 1.5 to 2 wpg for the plants ... other than that you've gotten good advice already

So if I was to get another Aquaclear 70 and take out the UGF.
And suppose I were set on having a discus + angelfish community.
do you think I could have:

25 cardinal tetras
4 discus + 2 angelfish
1 black ghost knifefish

The bgk will eat all the cardinals plus your tank is too small for one. Plus I'd go with the advice Tanker gave you!

do not get a BGK for that tank, they can reach 18-20".

Just dont put too many fish in there, because it will start looking like the metro station with over crowding and make sure all the fish your getting are peace loving otherwise your gonnabe looking at a lot of frayed fins and agitated fish- not much fun to look at- all the best.
