why is the cold water section so quiet :( there has to be more coldwater fish keepers out there that can contribute to this forum, so come on you guys if you do not have a fish problem or question to post then you can tell us all about your fish and tanks etc ,:D even if there are no problems we can just all have a good natter yes?

LOL...I have noticed the very same thing. It seems like not so many people post here anymore. Could it have to do with the fact that the whole element of "coldwater fish" has been put under one forum?

Possibly but personaly I prefer it to be seperate other wise I have to seive through all the tropical questions to find one about coldwater? but Iv found the same thing on other forums the coldwater section is a lot quieter than the tropical 'although not as quiet as this one :( ' some tropical fish keepers also keep coldwater but visit the tropical section more because it is usually more active, I would love to compare and swop ideas about our fish but you need people to do that with and if a forum only gets a visit when there is a problem then it can get a bit stagnent?

Yeah I see what you are saying. But what I was talking about is not that they should put these with the tropical forums. Rather, I wanted them to add onto this section by adding more topics under coldwater. ;)

Well...they could have a forum for Goldfish, Pond Fish, And maybe even snails or something of the sort. I mean, I just find that saying "coldwater" is too vague. Some goldfish aren't really coldwater fish. Some like fancy goldfish like a warmer tank.

ah now I get ya, would having different sections make much difference to this site though? :shake:

It would probably be better if "Coldwater" wasn't it's own section. It should still be under "Freshwater Topics" because coldwater is freshwater isn't it?
I also think that nowadays that tropical fish are more popular than most coldwater fish, or most people don't know that there fish is actually coldwater.
I really don't see that many people posting about goldfish period. Most of the posts for goldfish end up over here any ways. The name change in the forum sections might increase the traffic in here.
What I find is most people do not like goldfish. They look at commons or comets as plain feeder fish. Or they look at the fancies as creatures from another planet with their brains outside of their skulls or their eyes sticking out way too much. But that’s why I like them so much is because of those same strange mutations that they have. Just my 2 cents worth.

A Lovely way of describing orandas Avoxo 'trust you' but I think goldfish are very amusing and have lovely personalities, so surely other fish keepers must find the same, when I posted my photos on another forum quite a few asked me how did I get my fish to pose like that, I just said they were use to me taking photos like my children they just automaticley pose :D you must have read the response I got about the fish on this forum, there are alot of goldfish lovers just that they do not visit this forum very often 'how can people not like goldfish they are wonderful'

If I had a "community" tank I would post here, but Discus and 85F degree water doesn't belong here.. It is quiet here.. :(

To answer the question for whoever asked, yes I do think that increased forums for this topic would make a difference....or at least a change of names or something. I happen to think many people love goldfish. I have kept these fish from day one of my starting this hobby and I have met some wonderful people along the way. Granted, that was over 20 years ago and we didnt have Internet back then but I would agree that they were very popular back then.
Also, keep in mind...I find that goldfish lovers frequent forums that are about goldfish, and that have multiple forums on the topic of "coldwater fish". In other words, why would they come to AC to talk about goldfish in one forum when they can go to another forum like "Koko's Goldfish Forums" which is all about goldfish? Does this make sense to you guys? LOL...hope I didnt confuse anyone with my windy words :p

AFG, I agree with the part that most goldfish people will post on only goldfish site's like Goldfish Paradise Forum (http://www.goldfishparadise.com/forum/phpBB2/index.php) or Goldfish Net (http://pub92.ezboard.com/fthegoldfishnetfrm1) or Koko's (http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/forum/index.php). The funny thing is I do not post on any of them just AC's.
All those sites are great but I find that AC's just has more experts on how to take care of the water which is the most important.

Well, I'm not an 'expert', but if you use R/O water, over-filter, throw in a UV Sterilizer and you most likley will have very good water! I know most don't need the extras though... :)

avoxo, I hate to hijack this thread, but I love your avatar. I was looking for a nice goldfish avatar and couldn't find one. Would you mind telling me where you got it ?
BFD, I can not remember where I got the avatar but if you want it go ahead and copy it for your own use.
