I did a search and found a bunch of references to ordering live rock from http://www.liveaquaria.com but no information about ordering marine fish from these guys.
The website has a minimum order, so I'm going to have to order enough fish to stock the tank. Any problems with putting 4-5 fish in the tank at the same time?
Here is how I am planning on doing my tank, please correct me if you see anything wrong or dangerous.
#1 Locate tank and stand away from direct sunlight
#2 Put 4" of Tropical Play Sand in the bottom of my aquarium
#3 Get ~30 gallons (I have a 29 gallon tank) of distilled water. I have access to all the free distilled water I want at work so my cost is 0 for distilled water.
#4 Fill the tank with distilled water and slowly add enough Instant Ocean to bring the salinity to the right level.
#5 Let the tank circulate for a few days and check the salinity and pH, if it's at the right level I'll throw in two cocktail shrip to start the cycle
#6 After all levels are down (Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite), I'll put in about 40 pounds of live rock (I'm not using any lace rock).
#7 After all levels are down, I'll go to the LFS for a small Blue Damsel and put him in the tank.
#8 If the Blue Damsel manages to live two weeks, I'll buy the fish online and place them in my tank.
Do I need a powerhead to circulate water in my tank for the live rock and fish, or is the 160 gph hang on back filter I have enough?
Thanks again, you've all been helping me out a great deal. I can't wait to get this tank up and running.
