I tested my tanks GH for the first time in a long time. We have softened water so I kind of blew it off. Now my moderatly heavy planted tank has a higher GH than my tap.

Tank
GH 13
KH 8
PH 7
Nitrite 0
Amonia 0
Weekly water changes.

I dose with DIY co2, flourish, potasium. Im waiting on test kits to dose nitrates and phospates.

My tap waters GH is 4 and KH is off the charts, I lower the tanks KH with RO. Is the flourite in my substrate or the ferts raising GH?

Flourite won't raise your gH, neither will the ferts you listed. Any rocks or shells in the tank?

Yea, several pieces of slate and few rocks, all from my LFS. I just removed a clear rock that disolved to a fraction of its size.

Thats probably it now that I think of it...huh

That sounds plausible. Lots of types of rocks like limestone will disolve in water raising the gH. You can test rocks you would want to put in the tank by putting some vinigar on them. If they fizzle they are reactive to acids.

Good luck :)

Your water is **** near perfect..I wouldn't worry about it...most all plants should thrive in those conditions.
