Is this a pleco or a catfish?? [pic]

Hey guys,

I bought what I was hoping was a bristlenose pleco tonight, but once I got it home and into my tank, I'm unsure. I'm not even 100 percent sure it IS a pleco and think I may have a catfish. I'm sure someone out there can ID this guy for me.

Thats a synodontis species...not even a Loricariid ("pleco").

Definitely a syno cat. Not a pleco of any kind.

Yup it's a syno. not sure what type though.

Plecos have suckermouthes, Synos don't. So, it's a syno.

I can't find an exact species, but I'm not good at ID'ing synos. My guess is a hybrid.

My guess is Synodontis eruptus. They look very similar when they are young.

I think that is the upside down cat fish... synodontis nigriventris maybe? Yikes, what a mess up! Might want to give that store a call and let them know it's definitely not a pleco.

I think you might be right...at the very least it has some in it. Here's a juvie pic of S. euptura.
