are fertilizers harmful to fish ive been looking all i find is that if u dose to much it can be but will jsut samll doses to keep my plants looking better hurt fish there in a 55g

Fertilizers (which in the USA must contain N/P/K or at least one or more of those three nacronutrients) and supplements (trace elements) or bioavailable carbon will not hurt your fish at normal dosages - they have a fairly wide safety margin. But anything in excess can be undesirable to hazardous.

Fertilizers for terrestrial plants are not generally used, as they tend to have nitrogen in unsuitable forms which release N as ammonia - not good for fish, and too good for algae.
