I just wanted to post a time-line of my tank. I got the tank some time last Summer. The time-line starts with my initial fresh water set up with salt water decor, lol, to where I'm at now. Personally I like the transformation. Changing from the blue gravel to the black eco-complete was a pain though. Looking at the pics I think I want some kind of tall plant in the back. I'm not really a fan of the store bought backgrounds or painting the tank. Any suggestions for the plant, or anything else? Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks jbradt!
BoCoMo you're probably right. I just want to see it black before I paint it. Maybe I'll get some black poster board or spray paint some card board first.

I'm kind of toying with the idea of a Amazon biotope. I'm kind of already headed in that direction. What do you all think?

Looks good!! Black is def better. I have a ?, I see alot of tanks that are not filled up all the way, is there a reason that i'm missing?

For me it's water agitation. If I fill it all the way the filter return gets submersed a little. I don't know about others.

Yea I thought so too bishop. The blue was kind of generic/cheesy looking. I kept some on the bottom to subsidize just because I only had one bag of the eco complete.
Thanks ayra. The betta is the best. Not a picky eater and gets along with everyone. He even swims around my hand when I'm doing stuff in the tank.

Thanks jm. I upgraded the lighting DIY. It really made them pop. If you look at the first pics and compare them to the ones with the piece of drift wood you can see the difference.

it's amazing how different the look of the tank goes from when we first start out, isn't it. Good job, it's maturing well.

Yea the more you learn about the hobby definitely adjusts your ideas about how your tank should be set up.
