here is my male jaguar his grown close 3cm in the past 4 weeks

her colour has changed so much in the past week or so could it be stress who knows anyone?
 
well you are my idol mojo with you big CA cichlids and all and as you do you try and copy to idol as colse as you can lol

i even shaved my head:p

Once again behind the power curve. I grew my hair back months ago. Get with the program. Also you might try and be factual and say, "Today in my Fish Tank ".:laugh:

That I did...but as usual...spit out the hook.

In answer to the original question...Managuense and most other cichlids can and will change color under different conditions. Most notably during breeding. Stress is another factor that can cause color change. Water quality (good or bad) can change the color of the fish. Some food additive like Astaxanthin pigment can be added to increase color of the fish. My guess is that they are still fairly young. As long as they have no other outward sign of problems...I wouldn't be concerned.

Yes, good pics...If I ever had a spare 90 gallon a managuense would be what I'd put in it, for sure!

@ Mojo (or anyone else who knows): How healthy are good additives? I mean I know astaxanthin is found naturally in food (or is xanthin the natural one) and gives fish their color, but is it recommended to add it to food? Are there any foods rich in xanthin besides krill (my fish generally hate the stuff)?
