I've ordered from a couple online supply sites in the past for filters, filter packs, chemicals/treatments, etc. I wanted to know what others' think is the best online supply site (best price and service) for routine supplies (not fish or plants necessarily). Thanks!

drsfostersmith.com. bigalsonline is good also but right now I have a beef with them. petsolutions.com is good also.

I try to check all 4 if I'm doing a large order of stuff.

That Pet Place
The prices will vary, and sometimes one place has something the others don't and that will tip the scales to make the order from them.

I mainly use petsolutions the prices are a tad bit higher than bigals but if I place an order on monday morning I get it the next afternoon. To me that is worth a couple of bucks. Tim

I didn't check every item on their web, but thatfishplace.com appears to be slightly cheaper than drfostersmith.com... No?

It depends on what you are buying. I've used all four, but I usually use pet solutions and thatfishplace. I hate flipping back and forth between big al's catalog and price list and I'm not overly thrilled with the web site either, I like to lay out a buncha catalgs for side-by-side comparison better.

Thanks for the help. I found the drsfostersmith.com had the best price and selection for light bulbs today. I bought a bunch of T-8's and T-12's for my 55 and 75 gallons tanks and saved the most money on them. Thanks for the suggestions.

I just last week received a eheim cannister Pro II and a Ebo-Jager heater from Big Al's. Service was fine. Took about 10 day.
(I'm in Illinois)
They don't send an Email on shipment with tracking info like some Vendors. Thats not a problem though.
Pet Solutions ships FedEx and Emails a tracking number. I used them this month ordered a FilterMax sponge pre-Filter. Took about a week
No problems with either vendor. YMMV

Big als has the best prices: service could use some improvement.
Dr. Foster & Smith. Prices are higher especially on the bigger items. But service is excellent.
Thanks for everyone's input. As I said earlier, I placed an order with Drs. Foster and Smith online. I've never order light bulbs before online and it saved me about 50% vs. PetsSmart or other local fish stores. The shipment came to me in the midwest in 6 days in fine shape. I compared the pricing to Pet Solutions and it was about $5 less using Drs. Foster and Smith online.
The other benefit is now I've got actual product catalogs from both Pet Solutions and Drs. Foster and Smith so I don't need to search online to find the cost.
One note I'd make that someone mentioned earlier. I agree that Pet Solutions and Drs. Foster and Smith are much easier websites to find products, cost, etc. than Big Al's.

Each has specials too! Depending on what you're buying, you can save $ here one week, there next week. I've split an order b4 (Big Als $ Drs. F&S) and saved $2(including the xtra shipping)! Big Als gets my stuff to me in 2 days, but I'm close. Drs F&S are good too!
I use to go through ThatPetPlace but I returned a fake sword (because I realized it was too big for what I wanted) and they didn't credit me for it. Unfortunately, we had a mild family crisis at the time and I didn't follow up on it (so it's not fair for me to say they have bad service). I just don't use them anymore.
