ive got a 5 gallon tank i was thinking a fighter but what else could i put in it?
Perhaps some White Cloud Mountain Minnows (WCMM), especially if the tank does not have a heater.

ive seen freshwater soles around how do they go?
freshwater sole = freshwater flounder?
i would imagine pretty big. i did some reading on freshwater flounder awhile back, unfortunately it all eludes me atm.
Why not forgo a midlevel fish and add in acouple of cories or khulies on the bottom?

Yes Ewok, those were indeed killis ;)
Can you get eggs mailed to you Tia? Also I found these two links on the AKA website:
http://naka.killi.net/

I assume it would be cheaper to get killis mailed from someplace slightly more local than most of the god folks on aquabid. They are really fascinating fish and once you find other people that keep them, they are generally pretty cheap! Heck, I know my club has even *given* people easy killis to get them started
