Need help. Just moved to the Youngstown, OH area and am having trouble locating RO water. I have a small nano and was going to the local supermarket in my old home town and getting RO for .39/gallon. I even went to a sw lfs here in town. He says he uses distilled h2o. Others say they have di h2o. I just contacted a grocery, htey say they have a dispenser of "filtered" h2o - that's all they could tell me. I'm gonna go check it out. Need help. Do any of you use h20 other than RO?

10g nano
12lb lr
12lb ls

Check a drug store/WalMart type. Most of them offer RO filtered water by the gallon.

I don't use RO, but I have a fairly intensive filter setup that I use for all my tanks. It's a 4 stages filtration DIY job.

Distilled water is fine, especially since you are adding the salt mixture and any trace elements back in. I would do the standard precaution of small water changes at first to make sure the tank doesn't notice any change in water quality.

You might want to ask someone at the Youngstown Area Tropical Fish Society http://www.yatfs.com/home.htm if they know of a good place.

If you do use the distilled, buy a copper test kit and check it first.
