Do bubble stones significantly increase aeration in a tank.
We have 2 in either back corner of our 25g and they seem to privide quite a bit more surface agitation than just the filter alone, not to mention the bubbles themselves of course. Wondering just how much they are benefiting the water.

Most filters provide enough surface agitation to ensure proper oxygen saturation. Bubble stones are not needed. It is not the bubbles themselves that provide "air", but rather the surface agitation that the bubbles provide when they break the surface of the water.

They are not really "benefitting" the water...unless your filter does not give enough agitation itself...which I assume it does. The real use for them in most cases is aesthetic.

Look good but...

I agree Leopardess...you will aslo find the stones will eventually collect algae and will restrict air flow and also adds another thing you have to clean and maintain. they look cool though!
