I would like pygmy cories, after reading about them, but I've read they're hard to find. Do you guys just wait til a LFS gets in what you want? Just keep calling them all hoping to catch them? Or will they try to get them in for you if you ask? Or call you if they do? Or do you find online sources to order from? Just curious. THANKS!

Pygmies aren't terribly rare, but I've never seen them in Petsmart or Wal-Mart type store. One the LFS here sells them for $2. If they were rare I'd imagine they'd sell them for a lot more.

They can be rare depending on where in the country you are...same goes for most fish. My lfs got them [pygmies] in by accident...score! They were also 5$ a piece.
As for where to find them, check a local aquarium club if you've got one. Try online sources. Wait and see if you get lucky like i did:) Some places can order them if you ask, but most of the time a lot of stores can 't order them if they aren't something that they usually get in anyway.

Its my understanding that pygmies get a bit romantic in the winter so you could start bugging the lfs for them now. I managed to find them in my lfs which normally doesn't carry them. They had tons of them.
From what I have read online (if someone wrote it online it must be true :p ) they are not all that difficult to breed which would explain why my lfs had a couple 40 gallon tanks full of them. Its possible that they're not so easy to find because they're not all that popular...yet.

If your lfs can't get pymgy cories in, see if they can't get dainty cories in instead. They have the same body shape and only get 1'' like the pygmies.
What about liveaquaria.com they sell alot of fish and can normally get what you would like. My LFS refered me to them when inquiring about a fugu puffer.
