here's something thats been bothering me for a while.

Somewhere(mag/forum?) I read about the possibility of the Nitrosomas actually being in the water, and that the Nitrobacters were mainly the ones attaching themselves to stuff like sponges/rocks/walls/etc. Anyone know or heard anything like this?

When I first read about'em yrs ago, they were all considered to be ON stuff.
I'm starting to think it was a saltwater article, because now I remember him going on about the different varieties of each, too.

Thanks,
Uncle Bete

Don't have the link handy, but Nitrosomas and Nitrobacter have been pretty much eliminated as the primary nitrifiers in aquaria. I'll look for the journal article that discusses it, but maybe someone will post the link to it before I can dig it out.
