I've heard several ideas on this...I've narrowed down that I want a 10 gallon quarantine tank, a 50 watt heater, a sponge filter or corner box filter, and some kind of cover...and a light, though I've been told the light is not 100% essential...and a thermometer...the thing is the biological filtration...I've heard several ideas on how to establish the biological filtration, but none of them sound that promising...does anyone have a method for establishing it? I'd really appreciate it...with all the problems I've had lately, I've decided I MUST have a quarantine/hospital tank.

yea no light needed, dimmer conditions might relieve some of their stress too. just run the sponge filter on 1 of your other tanks and move when needed. or just stuff a sponge into one of your powerfilters or whatever your running. i usually just stuff bioballs into the powerfilter and when i need an emergancy tank set up i take all the bioballs and put it into the smaller powerfilter i run in that tank.

For my Q tanks i just use a 10 or 20g witha AC mini or AC150(depending on the tank. for biological filtration if i am Q tanking a fish i know i'm going ot be getting i add some more filter material to one of the filter on my other tanks for about 1 week, then move that media into the Q tanks filter. Or if im Q tanking a sick fish i jsut take some filter material from that same tank.

I also some times take some used gravel and put it into a stocking and put that into the filter.

I also sometimes add rocks or pots from other tanks too,it all helps add bacteria.

But on my Q tanks i do daily to every 2 day water chagnes so the levels never really have a time to rise.
