Hello all!
A freind of mine just started a 10g plant tank and I told him to dose 2-3 ml of Flourish at least twice a week for his relatively high light, excel fed tank. This corresponds to my own experience with Flourish in a 500 ml bottle. He questioned me several times about that dose and had nothing but hair algae/green slime algae problems for a couple of months. Even with Tom Barrs peat/mulm in the substrate and his filter running for a month on my tank be fore he used it. His levels of PO4 and NO3 were essentially normal. I finally looked at the 250 ml bottle of Flourish he had and it said to use 1-2 mls per 50 gallons. I went home and my 500ml bottle says 5 mls per 50 gallon. We cut his dose of Flourish in half and his tank is balancing nicely.
- Is this standard for Flourish to have two different concentrations?
- Has the formula just changed and he had just an older bottle?
I could probably just ask Seachem about it, but I thought I would post here because a lot people here recommend doisng amounts and maybe we need to specify what size bottle it comes out of to make sure we aren't telling people to overdose their tanks.
