what can you feed GSP that are 1" long if i don't have access to snails to keep teeth wore down? They have been eating frozen plankton and mysis shrimp so far. All my LFS has are the large black and gold mystery snails. I just dont want their teeth to get too long that they can't eat.

check the plants at your LFS.....my LFS said they didn't have any so i looked in there planted tank and said "I want those" and walked out of there with 6 of them:p
Yeah, there is no such thing as snails being unavailable. If anything, you can get a bag of 50 or so off the net at lots of places. Feed some to your puffer, then keep the rest in another container and raise your own.

Check out a local fish market. Ask if you can have the shell-on crab lobster parts that they can't sell. My local stores will rifle through boxes for chunks of leg and such that they give me for free. Shell-on raw cocktail shrimp are also good choices. Depending on the size of the puffer, mussels and cockles are a great food source, and if you acclimate them to your water (they are sold live), they will live for a day or three.

I think I'll have to check a couple more stores. My local Jewel said there's a woman who uses the extra claw parts for gumbo & wouldn't give me any. I'll keep trying.
Both of my puffers (GSP & F8P) bite a piece of coral I have in my tank. They both ite the same area. It is a died piece of coral so I wonder why they just bite there. It might be that they got past the harded outside with the sharp surface and now it is just easier.
An idea; getting a piece of dried coral and maybe soak it in vitamins then let it dry the put it into the tank.
