I have a little Betta tank (slightly over 2g) and I would like to give him a real plant. I have heard about "Betta Bulbs". Is this the only route?

I don't know what Bettas like or what is harmful to them, so any insight on this would be helpful. Thanks in advance. :)

I have a divided 5 gallon. On each side I have a water sprite floating. I think it looks nice with the roots hanging down for the bettas to swim through. I make sure to trim it each week so that it doesn't take up more than 1/4-1/3 surface area.

Also look into java moss and java ferns. Low light, almost impossible to kill.

Any easy plant would work. My suggestion is to get a lot. Bettas love hanging around in plants, and of course it is a good idea for maintaining good water conditions. When in doubt, get more in there!

Ok cool, thanks everyone! I bought him two java ferns today at $3.99 a pop. If you'd like to see pics of his new home they're going into, I posted them in the Freshwater Newbies forum.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! Sushi should be a happy little guy real soon. :)
