Yo! I think I have decided on a school of tiger barbs and a cory of some sort with a bristle nose pleco. What I am wanting to know is

How many tiger barbs can I fit in a 37 gallon to suffice as a school?

What type and how many of the type of corys can I safely fit in the tank?

Will the bristle nose pleco be too much?

Will everybody I have listed work with a heavily plastic planted (Just the bottom w/ 2 large Swords, 4 java moss plants, 4 small anarchis plants plus a large fake root system) tank w/ sand substrate??

Thanks!!

The sand might be a problem for the cories. They brush along the substrate a lot looking for food, and sand could wear down their ... er ... whiskers, or whatever you call them.

Also, you might want to see the other post on tiger barbs before you settle on those.

Cories are great! You could put quite a few in there, because they don't use up that much resource; they like to be in groups, too. Maybe six to even ten or more?

The bristlenose is a good idea, and you definitely have room for him. I don't know how they feel about sand, again, though.

Its a 37 tall. I have also been thinking about either a medium sized pair of cichlids or one fairly large solitarty cichlid. Any ideas??

hey silver,

your set-ups similar to mine, :D

go for 7\8 tigers....or 12\14 if they are the only schooling fish

5\6 corys.....(id suggest jullii or peppered) but i think pretty much any they dont get that big...

maybe better off trying dwarf cichlids....
african butterfly cichlid, kribs, apistogramma sp, or maybe even a pair of keyhole cich....

hope this helps
