I have some really nice pieces of driftwood that used to be in a freshwater planted tank. I was considering putting it in a salt water seahorse tank with macro algaes. I think the main concern would be that it could leach tannins into the water making a higher pH harder to obtain. When it was in my FW tank, it didn't leach tannins though...hmmmm. Any thoughts on this?
 
If it has already leached most of the tannins out, I don't see a problem with using it. Depending on the habitat, it isn't terribly unusual to see some wood along with seahorses. This is true, especially if they are around mangroves, in which case seagrasses often are found juxtaposed to these trees.

Amp doesn't wood (some of them) affect PH though? If one was to add wood...it would probably be good to have PH testing going more often to keep an eye on things would it not?

From what I understand from old fresh water days ....PH can be impacted by introducing new drift wood.
