What do you think? Can a Herichthys carpintis, Green Terror and an Oscar be kept together in a 90 gal?

If bought young it could work but don't bet on it. If it would be my tank though I wouldn't even try it.

I would also say No. The Oscar would become a punching bag.

Although in a bigger tank they would look pretty cool together.
I say no for the following reasons.
1) Herichthys carpinte pound for pound when full grown one of the tougher cichlids around. Can be quite nasty, even deadly.
2) Aequidens rivulatus (green terror) may not be considered as tough as the green texas. BUT. will however defend a territory very fiercely, and with it's average size of 9" can cause quite a bit of damage.
3) The oscar. Although can be known to be a formitable fish because of growing speed, size, and overall girth... See #1.
It would have no chance.
Tha being said you can still have a really nice new world set up in a 90 gallon. You will just have to be careful and research what will finally go in there.
I have kept a 9.5 inch female synspilum with a 7.5 inch male jd in a 55 with no problems. Now I would NOT tell everybody to run out and do this.
In fact I wouldn't do it if the fish were different fish than the ones I have. Their personalities just seemed to click. They got along. All cichlids are like people in respect to the personality aspect. There are nice ones and there are SOB's. I see it every day at the fish store.
I fortunetly have enough tanks to move fish around until I find the right mix. This particular one happened to work and made a nice livingroom center piece.
You will see that you will end up finding a mix that you will be very happy with. Just be careful when choosing and always err on the side of caution.
