hey im just wondering...what are some good tankmates for a male Betta?
i bought one of my friends a 5 gallon tank and a male betta for christmas...and i want to buy her another fish or two or 3 that would make a good tankmate...something that wont nip at the betta's fins etc...
any help would be good
thanks!

Pygmy cories, kuhli loaches, shrimp (not crawdads! Amanos or ghosts), otos, a large snail. All would require supplemental feeding, but would mix with a betta fine.

If you want a swimming fish then white cloud mountain minnows are a good option. 3 would be fine but that really maxes out the tank. This will also mean more water changes as well. Does this tank have a filter and heater?

my bad..it is a 2 gallon tank..not a 5 gallon tank...
so i guess i cant add too many more fish..would one or two white cloud minnows be ok?

there is no heater...but there is a filter, a fake plant, gravel and a rock

I have 4 panda cories in with my betta and they get along great. There's no nipping at all although the betta does act like an annoying little brother when the pandas are trying to eat. No agression at all though.

Oriongirl, why do you say no ghost shrimp with the bettas? I have one in there with him now and they get along fine. Is this unusual?

If this is a 2 gallon tank then really only some inverts like a mystery or apple snail or else some ghost or ammano shrimp would be cool. White clouds are school fish and you really need at least 4-5 of the guys and that tank is way too small.
