Friday, December 20, 2002 is C-SEA’s annual Product Showcase, Holiday Roundtable, Party, and Giant Raffle. We will be setting up a showcase of donated marine hobby related products inside the Aquatics Department of the Cleveland MetroParks Zoo as soon as we can get into the building. This event will also mark the beginning of our thirty-first year! Members and visitors will have an opportunity to view and discuss the displayed items before they are raffled off that evening. Members who have won items have often written reviews of them or mentioned their use in articles for the OCTOPUS, our monthly September to April club magazine. You can often start a discussion about the items displayed and get information from the hobbyists around you. A great time to learn on the spot about what's out there now, and so even if you don't win an item, you will know more about it and may be able to read reports about even more in future issues of the OCTOPUS. The meeting will start at 7:30, so be a little early if you can to buy raffle tickets and look over the showcase of mostly marine related products, the live reef animal and marine fish raffle table(s), and the tank raffle, a 46 gallon bowfront tank set up with extras for a reef or marine tank installation. Members will be bringing their favorite holiday cookies or other party food items to share with all. Check out our Showcase of marine/reef products, and also get a free preview of the new Red Sea reef tank, and other aquariums in the Aquatics department. Park in the upper parking lot at the top of Fulton Road Hill. The Aquatics, Cat and Primate Building is the second building on the left from the entry gate through the picnic area. Come early and enjoy the zoo first, or wait until 7:30 PM and pay no parking or admission, just stay right in our area since the rest of the zoo is closed. More information is at the C-SEA website.

Crap...I'll be out of town by that point. Hopefully one of these semesters I won't have night classes so I can actually make a meeting!

Sorry you can't make it, Boogiechillin, but if you are on the membership list, you'll still get a packet of tickets in the mail for the tank set up that you can send back in, no need to be there to win the tank set up. Plans are it will include a good supply of salt mix, a skimmer, and a triple bulb lighting system to make it marine fish or reef ready.

Boogiechillin, do you attend the GAAS meetings at the Kiwanis Hall in Portage Lakes? If you want tank tickets, let me know. I will be there this Thursday night, Dec. 5, can you believe it? It's already December!!

There are three raffles going on. One is for the tank set up. Another is for the food, filters, salt mix, equipment, and other hard good items. finally there is a live animal raffle. This one has been great in the past with live rock, giant clams, gorgonians, corals, reef fish, algae eating snails, algae eating hermits, and more. Each live item has its own ticket container so you can decide which ones you will pass over and which ones you really want. You can put all your tickets in one cup to risk all on that clam with the great irridescent mantle or the big assortment of live rock, or distribute them however you wish.

It's getting closer! It looks like we will have at least two 8 tables of products on display for the hard goods raffle, another table for the "wet" raffle, and the 42 bow Front set up with triple bulb light.
And two tables of food! It's a Friday night and Mrs. Santa will be giving gifts to the children.

That's a 46 gallon bowfront setup! And we have 16 feet of dry goods products displayed for the raffle, plus separate wet raffles and the tank set up. Hope to see you Friday!
