there are 2 of them in my area for $25 each at about 2 in. Worth buying?

Depends what size tank you have. Anything under a 75 for the larger species is generally not a good idea. They would do much better in a 125. They require driftwood to survive, and they are not 100 percent algae eaters so should be supplemented. Hope this helps.

I have had absolutely no success with them. Now I have a Goldy which I think looks better since it has completely orange fins. Now matter how tempted I am to buy a Gold Nugget, I refuse.

My LFS, best in Houston has one for $13 Seems high to me (price you quoted). I was tempted to trade my common plec for him.... Hmmm seems like they are not so hearty???

Must4ng s4lly, have you ever gone to www.fishrushouston.com . When ever I am in Houston, I always stop by. That store usually has plecos. Last time I was there, he had 2 large goldy plecos. I also got some zebras there.

Conroe's pretty far North, no i have never been there but have heard of it. I thought it was just ciclids! Good to know differently. Thanks for the link!
