so I was shopping for frozen foods to satisfy my discus/angel tanks & my new SW tank

comparing pricing & shipping, so far I have come across Dr FS & petsolutions

flat rate shipping:

Dr FS $24.99 (quantity discount if you order +6 mix n match packs, they don't have beefheart 80z flat packs)

petsolutions $19.99 (no quantity discounts, they don't have mysis 1lb flat packs)

I would order in quantity to spread the shipping costs - bloodworms, beef hearts, plankton besides either brine or mysis shrimps.

so which is the better shrimp? thks all

Nutritional value. Brine shrimp have none with the exception of freshly hatched baby brine shrimp.

That statement belongs in the same place as "A fish will only grow to the size of its tank". Adult BS have a shell composed of chitin, which is not bone but a very complex protein. Given that all arthropods are built this way, and that arthropods are the most numerous free living animals on the planet it's ridiculous to think that animals which ingest alot of arthropods in their natural diet can't utilize this protein. Nauplii possess fat reserves that adults don't, but to say that adult BS contain no nutrition is just flat out wrong. But mysis are definitely better.

Brine serves no nutritional value really some but not much.. its bascially just cotton candy for fish i feed it very lightly as a treat!

Sub, when compared to other forms of live or frozen/freeze dried foods, Brine Shrimp just don't cut the mustard. Sure, fish will eagerly snap them up but adult Brine really don't offer much in the way of nutrition.

Just in Sub's defense, however, I do see what he's saying. Although brine shrimp don't compare to Mysis in overall nutrition, they still have their place. Brine shrimp are a source of protein, provide color enhancement, act as a laxative and entice many finicky fish to feed. It's perfectly fine to use brine shrimp as a treat food. (Especially live brine shrimp.) Personally, I wouldn't bother with frozen.

For saltwater fish I'd rank Krill and Mysis at the top, then Daphnia and Brine.
Pacifica Plankton and lobster eggs are also excellent marine foods.

Thinking more freshwater... I am moving towards Africans and I am cutting fat/too much protein from the diet..

I'd go with spirulina and brine, then.

I just ordered from dr f&s frozen packs of mysis, brine with spirulina & bloodworms. if you order 6 or more mix n match get quantity discount. but shipping is $25 so must order quantity to spread the cost around.

SW tank, 1/2 the fish love the mysis, but my new clownfishes & one butterfly still refuse to eat. I fear the worst.

With the flat rate shipping on food from them, I tend to order a year's supply at a time to get the most out of the shipping cost as I can. I also see if anyone locally wants to order any at the same time to cut their shipping costs.

I'm surprised your clownfish won't eat it. All the clownfish I have will eat any type of fish food I throw in the tank. Give it a little time, and perhaps try mixing some of the mysis shrimp in with the food you were feeding them previously. If that doesn't work, you may want to look into a food additive, such as Selcon, to help entice them into eating the mysis.
