Hello fellow Aqua-lungs,
Well, I can't seem to find any "floating" plants at my LFS, so I must venture online for these plants. I'm a newbie to plants, and only know of one floating plant to get, which is the "Ceratopteris thalictroides", also known as the "Water Sprite" or "Indian Fern".
I read that of the 5 or 6 varieties of this plant, the "Ceratopteris pteridiodides" is the "best" as a floating plant. Does that sound right? Or, perhaps are there any better floating plants to purchase that you can recommend, and have had good luck with?
My 20 gallon tropical has a small "Nutrafin" CO2 exchanger, and I also use light daily doses of Seachem's "Flourish", and "Flourish Exel" drops for my current gravel-planted plants. I actually first wrapped their roots in modest balls of Fluval peat fiber, then secured them in a fish net material & fish line, and they seem to be doing well so far (but only 2 weeks now). I "hope" that was a good thing to do, rather than just sticking them in standard gravel.
Anyhoo, my second question is where a good place is to buy plants online. It would be nice to avoid paying $24 for shipping, for just $18 worth of plants, but, I got's ta do what I got's ta do I suppose.
Any comments would be MUCH appreciated, as usual. You guyz rock! :)
P.S. Is CO2 absorbed by the plant's leaves, or the roots...just curious if anyone knows.
