I picked up a half-decent iceberg fryeri from Petsmart today...Out of the three there this one was the nicest (one was slightly larger but was extremely skinny and had bad fins...The other was darker, which I liked, but its face was deformed...). He has what looks like a mild bacterial infection (red patches) on his shoulders and the ends of his unpaired fins but it doesnt seem to bother him. As soon as I released him he started strutting around the tank with his fins erect, checking things out, which pissed off most of the aulonocara in the tank lol. However they didnt give chase, except for my young rubescens, who squared off with him in front of one of the caves for a minute...I didnt think he'd be so ballsy in a new tank...This could be trouble

Can anyone else who owns a fryeri comment on their tempers? I've heard they tend to be the king of the tank but I did add him much later than my other aulonocaras, plus he's barely 2 inches long, smaller than most of my peacocks. I'll add pics later.

Perhaps you have to give him some time to ‘settle down’ a bit. Adjusting the pecking order so to speak. These things happen when a new fish is introduced to the tank.
Than again, because they all seem to have their own personality, he could be one of those aggressive, bad tempered guys. You’ll never know with these guys.
I had to remove my Fryeri after 8 months when he started to claim 90 out of the 180g.
