there's a decent little free utility called irfanview that makes resizing pictures a fairly easy thing to do.

i dont think this board would run you out for having a painted fish. newbies usually get their advice from pet store employees before they come here for a second [and better] opinion. most animosity would be towards someone who advocated the dyeing of fish and felt like arguing it here. which would be a waste of time for all involved.

as a novice, i bought a green one who is now a much better shade of bright orange. it fell in love with another cichlid which i traded in so now its a little heart broken. it occasionally stops fights between other fish. he's like ,"guys, guys, break it up!"
Of all my fish, it has the thickest body/ most mass. so it can push a fish around when he wants to. but nobody gets hurt.

there is a forum just for blood parrots but i couldnt seem to get on it tonite.

ok.. found a host.. here they are :)

I bought the same Parrots for my tank. When I purchased them, I had no idea they were dyed. (what's a newbie to know).

Anyway, they're very smart fish, and will eventually lose their color, to a more natural orange color.
As far running you out of town.....I look at it this way....Where ever these fish come from, and whatever process they go through, they certainly deserve a good home.

Stopping the dye process would be a nice idea, but it would take a tremendous consumer effort to accomplish that.

i somewhat agree... i think fish and animals suffer every day, whether it be from slaughtering for us to eat, or even for experimentation.

a few more points were raised on this forum, one being that these fish werent meant to be in a glass aquarium their whole life.

i feel sorry for these fish, but i'm not going all out like PETA... sorry to those who just dont agree

nice tank - the only thing i wasn't crazy bout was that white coral looking thing - it's nice but looks like it's out of place in a FW tank -woul look better in SW

as for your fish - hey at least they have a nice home now ! they all look very nice
