So a sweet little secret Santa (jread) bought Sushi a filter for Christmas in addition to his new digs. I got it all set up the other day, and it works great! It's eliminated my every-other-day water changes. That thing really sucks up the goo! Thank you, Jeremy. :D
So the funniest thing is that Sushi thinks it's a toy. He swims right at the flow, then does upside-down somersaults under the leaf of the java fern. He does it over and over. It's the funniest thing.

I guess this doesn't interest anyone...

Glad he got the filter--nice of Jread to help a fishie out. My bettas tend to spend a lot of time in new currents--it's like they are trying to figure out where it's coming from, and if they need to do anything about it. I always picture guys staring underneath the hood of a car--same expression. :)

That is great to hear that you now have a filter for your bowl. And it was very nice of jread to do that.
But that should help with the over all quality of Sushi's water and should keep him healthy and happy for some time.

Well thanks, everyone. :)
It wasn't easy going at first. He didn't like that his favorite plant was gone (fabric plant I replaced with java ferns), and his rocks had been changed. He wouldn't eat. :(
So I put all his old stuff back, added the filter and now he's eating again. Now he actually prefers flakes because he can chase them when the water flow pushes them across the tank. My weird little man. :D

It says "Azoo" on the top. Just a tiny palm filter. :)

I recently bought an Azoo Palm filter but haven't had a chance to use it yet. It has low flow which is good for bettas (that's why I bought it). If you are using the Azoo cartridge with the carbon in it remember that the carbon will be used up within 3-4 weeks and may start emitting some of the stuff it soaked up. I'm thinking of using filter floss and sponge in mine.

This one has a white puffy part and a black screen part, looks like an air filter you would use in your home. I don't know if that's what you're talking about, but it's two pieces "fused" together.
It works really well, it's quiet and I like the adjustable flow. :)

Yup, the black part is carbon, which is what shewlett was talking about.
But remember I dont think bettas like a lot of flow so make it minimal.... also if there is too much surface agitation he wont be able to build a bubble nest! :o
I have a tiny one from PetaCetra on my little betta tank... and my little guy loves to sleep stuck to the intake! He's so lazy he could care less. :D

Ok. I have a bag of replacement filters that came with it when this one is used up.
I have it set on a pretty low flow, so it doesn't wing him to the other side of the tank. He likes playing in it, though. :)

Jenny, a couple of days ago I set up two Azoo Palm filters on a couple of 5 gallon tanks. This seem noisy compared to my AC Mini and Whisper 5-15 filters ... they constantly emit a buzzing sound. I can get them to quiet down by pulling the intake tube and re-inserting it but in a few minutes they are buzzing away again. How quiet is your Azoo Palm filter?
