As everyone knows fish websites are very inconsistant about the max. size of fish. I was wondering if everyone who has a jaguar here, to please list the size and age of their fish. I was also wonder how fast they grow and generly how smaller are females than males. Thanks :)

Size: male 11", female 9"
Age: ~2 years old

Max.size for a male jaguar in captivity seems to be around 16", some rare specimens might get even bigger, average size seems to be around 14", females get a few inches shorter.
They grow fast, about an inch a month, but slows down the bigger they get.

Male, ~6'' have had him going on 3 months, got him when he was 4''.

As FI76 stated, average is 14'', I think 16'' in the wild is still pretty big though not unheard of.

11" age unknown-came with a tank I bought. Fianally found perfect tank mates for him that he didn't try to destroy in the form of a 13" Clown Knife and a 12" pleco.

I have two females:

Akasha, 14" about 2.5 years old
Pele, 8" about 1.5 years old
Could you post a picture of Akasha? Judging by the size I would say that she is a he... But a picture would let me know for sure.

I've wondered this myself because of her size but her fins are so rounded. The pics of males I have seen, the dorsal and ventral fins have a definite point to them. Both of hers have a tiny point at the very tip and then a huge roundness.
The only somewhat full pic of her I have uploaded right now is an old one and you can only see her ventral fin:

I have to admit, 1/2" of that length is probably due to the top part of her jaw being dislocated a little over a year ago. It makes her mouth stick out more.
