I had 6 corys and 8 neon tetras in quarantine from a lfs, and there are only 1 cory and 3 neons left alive. It has been almost a month and it is clear that the lfs got some bad fish.

The tank was/is fully cycled, nitrates close to zero.

My community tank is really doing great - plants and fish very heathy and stable. I'm afraid to add these fish to the main tank since they may be carrying the disease.

What do you do?

thats a tough one
extend q time another 4 -6 weeks
if everything is ok then move them
or return to stor if possible then sterilize tank

Did your other fish live past the gaurantee? I myself would be miffed and demand satisfaction! (any simpsons fans?) That is an amazing fatality rate.

Since cories like to live in groups, I would add a couple cories and monitor their health, plus it will make your other cory happier. That will tell you if there are still problems. Are there any signs of anything? This sounds weird. What are the other water parameters? Especially ph. I know neons like a lower ph. I keep mine at 6.8 to 7.0. I know other people have had good luck with a higher ph, but that is what most breeders will tell you to keep it at. That is a high mortality rate.

Aren't you glad this was all in the Q tank!

I disagree on adding any fish. Keep the survivors in that tank for 4 to 6 weeks past the last evidence of disease. Then add a fish from the big tank to the Q tank, and see that no illnesses are picked up by old or new fish, if all is well add the new fish to the big tank.

THEN get some more cories to make a bigger school. Q for one month.

Next time consider adding one sort of fish at a time. It is possible that only one of those types was ill and the others could have survived if not Q'd together.

I post questions to AC so that I can get good ideas, like the one above! I will extend the quarantine, then add some glowlights from the community tank, and quarantine for another month.
