Hey everyone. Doing research on setting up an aquarium for the past few days, getting all my bases covered.
So, my current question...
I have 45" (up to 20" deep) of space available for a tank. I want at least a 50 gallon tank (I've read the larger the better, as far as maintaining a stable environment, plus I like doing things big anyways).
Is there a particular type of tank I should be looking for? I've got all sorts of info on filter, pump, light, treatment, etc manufacturers, but I'm not finding any specific info on tank manufacturers. Is this because there are significant differences from tank to tank? Just find one the size I want and buy it? Any particular pros and cons of glass vs acrylic? I do like the seemless appearance of acrylic. I'm not looking for any special designs like a bowfront or bayfront tank, just a basic rectangular tank.
Still mulling over the fish community I want to populate the tank with, one of the reasons I'm thinking bigger is better. I want to minimize the potential problem of having a tank not large enough for the fish I want. At this point my top two choices are a bigger community of smaller group fish vs a smaller community of smaller Cichlids (fish in the 3-5" range)
I will be going the fishless cycle route, so I still have a good month or so to decide what to populate the tank with. I need to decide what tank to get though, with a purchase planned within the next couple weeks.
