Hi there everyone,

So I bought a piece of boogwood, at the moment it is soaking in water, its it 3rd day,and i clean it with a brush everyday, ince now, no fungus appeared, but the water is always brownih when i go to change it, will this happen to my aquarium as well, and what other changes should I c , maybe in d water chemistry.

Another question is, what i exactly co2, I had asked help for my plants, and someone told me to add loads of co2, is it the air? I have one which came with the powerhead, but maybe its not enough,is there a way to measure this thing?

Tannins. Ironically, some people actively desire to have that, it softens the water. 'Bogwood' sounds like it came from a swamp, so it would have stuff in it which would cause that (like peat).

It'll most likely eventually stop, but it could take a long time.

As for the CO2 thing... just that, carbon dioxide. They don't mean the air, they mean the pure form of gas. Some people actually buy tanks of CO2 to inject into the tank, but most just use do-it-yourself CO2 generators with a soda bottle and some yeast and sugar. Just do a search for 'DIY CO2' on this site, should get you some idea of what they mean.

It all depends on what plant you have, how many plants you have, how much fertilizer you are adding and the biggie - how much light do you have and what type of lighting is it.

And yes, the bogwood can leach tannins out for a long time. Watch out how it coudl affect your pH.

Its not what I have actually its what i'd LIKE to have. Light is not good, i'm going for better 40 to 60 watts, that should do fine no? Fertilizer, I had done a layer underneath the gravel, now with the vacuming, and d loaches its not really all of it underneath the gravel. At the moment plants I have a dwarf something which is doing good in a way, a lot of new leaves but they dry out fast. the twisted vali is in better condition, it grew since its been here. The amazon is barley surviving, the java fern is ok,and i have a type which i don't know the name of it, its imilar to the valis, but the leaves aren't twisted, and 2 of them grew really tall.
