View Full Version : How important is a bubbler?

My bubble wand is not cranking out anywhere near where it used to. Still a slow trickle. I changed it out for a new want, helped a little. Tried a new pump. Same result. I may try an air stone.

Algea in my tank may cause the wand to plug quickly.

My question is how important is this? I have a filter that hangs on the tank, so there is some aeration there. This is a 20 gallon tank.

Thanks,

John

Air Stones, Bubble Wands, etc. are all very neat tools (decorations) to have IMO. But keep in mind, I did add in the work "decorations" to that sentence. It seems many people have been asking this question, and as I have said it depends on the aeration in your tank. If you have a filter, designed for your tank, and its fairly new (past 10 years or so), then your tank is more than likely aerated enough without the extra "bubbles".

Personally, I like them. Some of my tanks wouldn't look right without them setup so I will keep my bubble wands, but its certainly just an option, not something you "NEED" to keep.

As long as there is surface movement from the HOB filter then the bubbler is not necessary. Keep it if you like it. :)
