I need help in trying to identify who laid eggs in my aquarium. I have 4 zebra danios-looks like all females(don't think so as I think these drop the eggs to the bottom), 5 congo tetras-not sure here, 15 cardinal tetras-getting mature-not sure here, 5 rummy noses-not sure, 2 clown loaches-don't think so, some discus - too young and no site preparation.

The eggs first appeared on the glass. The sack looked like half moon and there were maybe 50 small eggs. It showed up twice recently on the glass-the second time the discus ate them. Then I was going to remove a flowting anubia leaf and I noticed 3 slimy sacks underneath the leaf that looked like eggs, so I put it back.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sound like snail eggs to me.

any chance of a pic?

sort of agree with the "snails eggs" theory. especially if they're in like a clear, slimy jelly. most of the fish eggs i have encountered are more of an "individual" thing, seperates but close together.

The digital camcorder that takes pictures is not that clear. Will try it tonight though and see how it comes out. The ones under the leave were really slimy. On the glass though, from the outside, it didn't look like slime - not sure on the inside.

Well, as far as snails, I have been infested with them. My two clown loaches have really kept them under control for the first two months, but now it seams that don't eat them anymore and I have probably 60-80 small snails in my aquarium. Could well be. After I look at the leave, I will inspect the jelly(clear as ewok said) and through it out if there is no indication of fish - has been there for at least 3-4 days.
