How do duckweed multiply? and how much light do they need, wattage and hours per day?
I have some that i am using hoping to suck up the nitrates in my african tank and in my small tnk to control hair algae. :)
Thanks,
Tim Bo

IME duckweed will grow uder pretty much all light conditions - some of my tanks get about 10 hours on average of flourescent light. I'm not sure what the optimal amount of light is. i know that in nature it grows in full sunlight as well as dense shade.

Duckweed usually grows by vegetative reproduction, kind of like spider plants. It's been my experience that they like highlight, but also do okay in 1.5 WPG. HTH
